We are looking for current students who are interested in the Language and Culture Mentorship Program in Fall 2021. In this project, you will be paired with one of the LaGuardia alumni in language and culture studies (such as Japanese Option) and will learn their academic and career experience from a short (1-2 hour) visit to their current school or workplace. Each participant will receive a $25 gift card for their participation.

In Fall 2021, the following alumni have committed to this mentorship program (see their short bio and current academic/career paths in the parentheses).

  • Nhia (Alumna of LaGuardia [Japanese Option] and Queens College [Linguistics] / Monday, Tuesday, or Weekend / Teaching languages and NPO/CBO)
  • Oscar (Alumnus of LaGuardia [Japanese Option] and Queens College [Linguistics] / Currently in the MA program / Graduate-level education)
  • Tereece (Alumna of LaGuardia [Japanese Option] / Currently in the BA program at Baruch College / 12:30pm on Tuesday / International business)
  • Danny (Alumnus of LaGuardia [International Studies] / Currently works at the NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) / NYC public work careers)

If you are interested in working with any of these alumni, please sign up for the mentorship program at https://bit.ly/Conexion2021lang_culture. We are hoping to schedule the visits to their schools/workplaces some time in December. We will close the registration for current students on Friday, December 3, 2021.
